A GCC Initiative to Reach Appropriate Blood Donors to Blood Receivers

Virtual Blood Bank: Blood Grouping Campaign at Manohardi, Narsingdi

May 08, 2014 - The Virtual Blood Bank Project of Global Communication Center has recently completed a Blood Grouping Campaign at Noakandi Haji Alim Uddin High School of Manohardi, Narsingdi. A total of 486 young students of the school have participated in the program. The program was carried out through May 04 – 06, 2014.

Most of the students were identified having blood group of B+ and O+; other blood groups have been found as well. All the students have been registered as future blood donors under Virtual Blood Bank web-based platform. They have been provided with a temporary ID card with the blood group information checked in the program. All the students will receive a permanent ID card along with their picture and blood group information soon. The program was also open for the villagers, therefore, some villagers also took up the blood grouping service in the program.

Virtual Blood Bank is a project of Global Communication Center, Grameen Communications which is a web-based platform serving as a storage of blood donors’ information while connecting the blood donors with the blood receivers by constructing the location map of the donors.
